Do people realize that there are two types of stem cell research?
People are getting angry because they aren’t told the whole truth. Most people who are against stem cell research are against embryonic stem cell research. This has been proven not to be effective, however adult stem cell research has proven to be quite a help for us all. Why not tell the whole truth and let people base their opinions on truth?

The question of stem cells is currently the dominant subject in the debate over biotechnology and human genetics: Should we use embryonic stem cells or adult stem cells for future medical therapies? Embryonic stem cells are taken from a developing embryo at the blastocyst stage, destroying the embryo, a developing human life. If there is evidence that adult stem cell research is better, then why are scientists still messing around with embryos? Creating and destroying potential humans for unnecessary research, that’s really creepy.
You can tell some people the truth a million times but all they will see is what they want to. To them its all baby killing. Its like we still have witch hunts. We just traded witches for scientist. Why should politicians ever decide something that’s beyond their understanding? OK granted most things are lol. But medical research should not be governed by Senators or congressmen. Even stem cell research that is done on embryonic stem cells should be allowed. There are thousands of abortions everyday. I don’t need to hear how terrible that is I know how terrible it is. Even if abortion were outlawed everywhere it would still go on in secret. That is a entirely different subject so don’t bite my head off about it. I am not saying I am for it or against it. Shouldn’t those embryos be allowed to be of some good? It would not create a market for fertile eggs. You can gain many cells from one source. Why should people continue to suffer and die because of the short sightedness of government.
Makes you think the media is intentionally not telling people about adult stem cell research, doesn’t it?
Someone asked why scientists aren’t focusing on this aspect… they are. It’s just that the abortion industry/lobby and the embryo banks are pushing for this research to make money. It always goes back to the money.
As for why the government needs to make these decisions… hello? When the scientists had their way in Germany, they conducted all sorts of unethical experiments on the captive Jews. Government is necessary to provide boundaries. They don’t have to know everything the scientists do to set boundaries that protect human rights. Just like your boss doesn’t have to know your whole job to set parameters within which you are to work.
