Why is stem cell research and therapy so controversial?
carynhelene asked:
Think hard about this question from the mindset that you have a dibilitating or possibly fatal disease that could be cured by stem cell research and or therapy. Don’t go the political route please. Then answer the question!

because it means a child has to die. Harkens back to some of the experiments that **** Germany did
Stem cells are humans
Because some people have the dim witted notion that a 2 cell combination on an egg and a ***** is somehow a child and that it should be protected by killing people.
Still not sure where the bible says it’s ok to kill someone to save someone else.
People, like the previous posters (and I’m sure there will be more by the time I finish this) seem to believe that the collection of cells in question is actually a person.
That’s ridiculous. We’re talking about about a blob of cells that is not even as remotely complex as a housefly. If you’re opposed to stem-cell research, try applying your “compassion” across the board and engaging in some militant veganism.
Imagine a group of 150 or so cells. This is not a person any more than an acorn is an oak tree. Try to use just a modicum of reason, please.
What is unconscionable is that actual people are suffering and their suffering could be alleviated by stem-cell research. The cures to Parkinson’s and Alzheimers are at our fingertips. If only we could put these silly myths behind us, we could live in a much better world.
Because everyone has their own opinion about everything.
but the thing most medai and peolpe do not distinguish between is embrionic stem cells (a child already that would be killed) which has had no known medical benifets or cures to date. and adult stem cells taken from certain body parts and embilical cords, that has had many advances and a few cures already. they always group the two together and say we need it or they wont alow it instead of splitting the two up. there is no real reason to be against adult stem cell researce.
