stem cell research
Elana A asked:

Are babies aborted for stem cell research? Or, when the mother is going to abort the baby, does she say it’s okay to use it for research?

Stem cell research is cells, cells, nothing but cells.

There is no implantation of cells in the womb, no womb involved, and no mother– no Mom, no baby.

Not to be rude, but think carefully– abortion means a baby coming out of the mother’s womb, right?

Stem cell research involves no mother, no womb, and no baby– just cells that may one day save lives and ease suffering for millions of people with “incurable” disease or disability.

No, they use umbilical cord Stem cells usually donated by the mother, it is more “ethical” than fetus stem cells

I think they now found a way to use cells from the umbilical cord and belly button to make stuff from stem cells so no but those cells could have potentially became a baby.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t stem cells derived from zygotes rather than partially formed foetuses?

stem cell research uses the fetus of aborted babies whose mothers had already decided to abort their baby. The mother has to sign a consent form for both the actual abortion and the research that will be done later

No. They use the umbilical cord for stem cell research so once the baby is born, they ask the mother is it can be used. Nothing to do with abortions.

No, they do not abort babies specifically for stem cell research, that is just something that they use the discarded fetus’ for [disgusting, I know] but I would rather they gain knowledge on something that could benefit the children in the world than doing nothing with it.

I’m sure there’s some way to donate an aborted fetus to a research institution. But there are hardly any doing stem cell research because the government refuses to fund it. That’s in the US at least. I don’t know about other countries.

Neither….stem cells can be taken from cord blood or from an embryo that can later be implanted and given birth too. The process of abortion kills the stem cells.

No, babies are not aborted (is that a word?) just for use in stem cell research. Generally, babies who die of natural causes (i.e., miscarriage) are used for stem cell research after receiving permission from the parents.

no the mother is not “asked”. the baby is aborted and the umbilical cord blood is used. there are babies born everyday without being aborted that i am sure they could get enough stem cells from.

the organizations pushing this, i.e. planned parenthood, do so because every woman who comes in and successfull aborts a human being is more cash for them.

babies are not aborted “for” stem cell research. they are aborted for other reasons. abortion clinics make the money off the blood they collect from the aborted babies.

everything is about money.

stem cell research has nothing to do with abortion. It uses the cells in the umbillical cord, which is taken at birth. You can also keep umbilical cord (or blood banking) for your own use incase your child gets sick or donate it so other children can use it or it can be used for very important research that can save millions.
