UGA Marrow Drive for Christine Pechera
University of Georgia students created this video during a marrow drive for Christine Pechera. Re-posting the video again in hopes of inspiring other student groups to continue what UGA started.
ALL racial backgrounds, not only Filipinos, are desperately needed to register with the National Marrow Donor Program database
Today, for every one cancer patient that finds a match on the NMDP database, there are four patients who tragically do not. Doctors have the knowledge and medicines to save lives but their hands are tied if no one steps up to donate a small sample of their marrow or stemcells.
It does not matter what your ethnic or mutli-ethnic background is. You may be that one in a billion person that may be the perfect match to save the life of another human being.
That’s huge.
NOTE: This video was created when registrant DNA was tested using a blood sample. That is no longer the case. Today, DNA is tested with a simple cotton swab wiped on the inside of your mouth.
